The Rolex is an awesome watch, but as awesome as an ALS or Patek with a timezone complication? Or a Moser with a bloody tourbillon? And again, if I pull the trigger on one, that's it boys.
I’ve narrowed my search down to the PP 5270 and ALS Datograph. (Either will be purchased pre-owned) I’m leaning towards the 5270, even at the price premium, but thought I’d see if there was something I’m overlooking. I currently own a Rolex 116710BLNR and it’s certainly a great piece. Go for the ALS Sax thin. It is truly a beautiful timepiece and it is NOT a dull watch. I have a rotation of Rolex SS and PM but i find myself choosing the Saxonia more frequently. Looks, size, quality, and you can't beat the price point. The Rolex probably had a screw down crown. ALS makes lovely watches and their movements are remarkable, but you will have to pay more attention to it over a typical "tool watch". I have always loved ALS, and aspired to it, and I happened to walk into a local boutique in a new city I just moved to. They had an 1815 Flyback Chrono, which had a deposit from another buyer, who moved it to another piece and it is available.
